Stephen Applin’s poems explore the strife of the midnight shift, the bittersweet beauty of a milltown childhood, and the solace he found working a small plot of land in the Taconic Mountains.
Poems in this volume previously appeared in the Anthology of Magazine Verse, California State Poetry Quarterly, Washout Review and Zephyrs. This collection was edited by John Moffitt and Dave Snyder.
Stephen Applin, 1945 – 2015, was born in Providence, Rhode Island and lived in New Hampshire, Louisiana, and upstate New York. He worked as a cook, university instructor and postal clerk. When he wasn’t writing poetry, he chopped wood and grew vegetables on his alpine farm.
