Paul Bowles was a 20th century American writer, composer and translator who lived in Tangier, Morocco for more than 50 years. Bowles’ writing was influenced by his post-war travels in North Africa, South Asia and Latin America. His prolific body of work includes semi-autobiographical novels, short stories, poetry, travel essays, musical compositions and recordings of Moroccan folk music.
